Ayurveda is a sister science to Hatha yoga. Ayurveda is
a sanskrit word that means the "science of life".
Ayurveda, as well as Hatha yoga, places great emphasis
on prevention of disease. It is an ancient system that is
based on balancing the three doshas or body
constitutions: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The Vata
constitution is made up of the elements of ether and air.
The Pitta constitution is made up of the elements of fire
and water. Finally, the Kapha constitution is made up of
the elements of earth and water.  The harmony of these
constitutions create overall health of the body, mind and
spirit.
